I used to sink hours into PSO, but this game doesn't have the same charm.

Nothing would persuade me back to this game - it took me nearly two months of calling "english speaking" xbox live customer support to cancel my sub the first time.

Sorry Sega, I hate to say it, but you lost me on this one. A tepid offline RPG did not make up for the lack of online content.

Next time, go online only and make it REALLY GREAT.

This game is so damn boring. Who the hell wanted more? It couldn't have sold that great...

I tried to play PSO on the "private" (i.e. pirate) servers. The graphics are still cool and it has so much style, but ultimately I just dreaded the upcoming grind and the repetitve dungeons. For its day though it was a blast!

If you google it you can easily find the free servers for PSO for Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PC!

As a current PSU player, I'm excited about this expansion pack and look forward to purchasing it on the 20th. There's alot of people that play this game online...wether you want to know it or not. I like it despite it's little flaws, and it's the one X360 game I play the most.

So yeah, I can't wait for the expansion.

PC retail disc rather than download probably has something to do with the lack of a distribution channel (why not partner with Steam or something, I don't know... maybe they didn't want Valve taking a cut?)

Zootittles: Lack of content is not a problem anymore. Period. Anyone who brings this up now hasn't actually played the game recently.

meitha_CAG: The game did exceptionally well for PlayStation 2 in Japan.

WiNG: Private servers are laughably unbalanced both in quests and in the mentality of the attention whores emo cases running them.

i bought PSO for xbox after hearing it was a very popular MMO but I couldnt get past the mind numbing and slow single player. It was tearfully boring.

It's a good thing we're talking about Phantasy Star Universe then, and not Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II for the original Xbox. Fun for its time, but its offline mode was identical to online but without... er, actual people. There was split screen, of course, and a rather disproportionate number of people who enjoyed that despite "ONLINE" being on the packaging, but the camera angles during boss battles weren't really optimized for it at all.
