GameTap offering free Hitman games and retrospective in November

Next month GameTap will offer the adventures of Agent 47 (except for Blood Money) for free on the service in sequential order. Although they say the original game is available Nov. 1, technically it's available for free now. The series' gameplay became far more forgiving as things progressed, so depending on your tolerance for repeating a level over and over again, you may want to wait until Contracts becomes available Nov. 15 for the softest experience.

Now - Hitman: Codename 47 is available for free play.
Nov. 8 - Hitman 2: Silent Assassin available for free. GameTap begins Hitman Retrospective on their Watch channel.
Nov. 15 - Hitman: Contracts available for free.
Nov. 21: Hitman movie starring Timothy Olyphant premieres in theaters.

GameTap says they have more in store on this, but that's the basics for now. We are curious to see how one of the GameTap retrospectives holds up to the GameTrailer ones we've become enamored with.

Now, if only us Australians can actually get it to work. (From what I know, ALL Australians are getting an error making ALL games appear to have been upgraded to Gold.)

Is this like "Download, burn to CD = Free game for life" ? Or are they timed or something? I love Blood Money, lost my CD for it though :(

You can't burn to CD AFAIK because it requires the GT client to play and such. Similarly, because it requires the GT client, they can enforce rules on when the game expires.

I guess you could theoretically set up a fake server for the GT client to access, but you wouldn't do that, would you?

They should number those bad-boys. Just the subtitle isn't enough to know the chronology for non-fans.

Gah. I've been campaigning for the Hitman game back for months... but now I can't play ANY free games.

They recently changed their region coding, so now us poor gamers in Japan can't use GameTap at all.
Which is really frustrating because it was the best way to get english language games over here.

WOnder if i can get around it with some form of proxy? But i'm not sure i can be bothered. If they don't want my business then screw 'em.

hmm, a better question is why not Hitman Blood money? Because it was the newest game?
